Although I have to say that the teachers at Ganada don't give dirty looks--sympathetic, understanding, perhaps pained, but never dirty! This is all to say, obviously, that my Korean class is finished. Instead of 3 B's, which I received the first term, I was gifted with a B and 2 C's. I would have never given me a B in speaking; not sure I even deserved a C. And the C in listening was incredibly generous. The C in reading/writing was probably reasonable. But never mind; I'm done. Now I will be enjoying the next month in Korea as a tourist.
I celebrated completion of the test yesterday by taking the other American in the class (Korean adoptee from Iowa who's taught in Korea for a number of years) to lunch at the wonderful salad bar restaurant near the school. Last night I watched some television while sipping a glass of wine. And after the last class today (Tuesday) I met HaeJung and MinJu to attend an art exhibit.
We all enjoyed "Gustav Klimt in Korea 2009." Explanations were in English as well as Korean, and there was an audio program available in English so I was well able to understand. It was quite a lovely exhibition, very well done. We followed the exhibit with dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Very authentic sweet and sour pork -- much better than the usual version found at American Chinese restaurants. Upon returning home it was pleasant to realize that I didn't have to worry about doing homework or planning for my next class.Of course, now I have to think about what I want to do with all my free time and make some travel plans. That should, however, be fun.
